Parents of children can now access information on sensory toys, games and equipment in 'Living made easy for children'

National charity the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) has added a new section to its website ‘Living made easy for children’ that provides information and impartial advice on toys, games and equipment for sensory stimulation for families with children with disabilities.

‘Living made easy for children’ (www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk/children) was launched in April 2009 and is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families .

DLF announces Programme for Moving & Handling People 2010

DLF’s annual CPD accredited Moving & Handling People conference is the major event in the moving and handling calendar. The programme recognises the important role that workers have to play in safeguarding the well-being of those with reduced capabilities whilst maintaining their own health and safety in practice and promoting a safe and healthy workplace.

New independent advice on car seats & accessories for disabled children added to charity website 'Living made easy for children'

National charity the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) today announced the launch of a new section in its website ‘Living made easy for children’, a unique portal providing information and impartial advice on equipment for children and young people with disabilities (www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk/children/). The new car seats and accessories category will help families with disabled children find independent information and advice on specially designed car seats, belts and harnesses.

DLF warns older and disabled people to protect their equipment following a number of recent thefts

Mobility equipment is expensive with a top-of-the-range lightweight wheelchair costing in the region of £2,000 and mobility scooters for road use costing on average £3,000- £5,000, with some up to £8,000.

Chris Shaw, Chief Executive of the Disabled Living Foundation, comments, “Mobility equipment all too often requires a huge investment . Unfortunately unscrupulous individuals will seize the opportunity to take anything of value and an unsecured wheelchair or scooter is no exception.”

Paddington-based Prudential’s big charity spring clean!

The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) got a big spring clean this week when Paddington-based financial services group, Prudential, sent in a team of volunteers in as part of a community project event.

The ten-strong team worked all day to clear out the basement clutter, clean and reorganise a large stock room and the staff room in DLF’s head office on the Harrow Road.

Today sees the launch of an innovative new advice and information website on equipment for children and young people with disabilities from national charity the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) at NAIDEX 2009 in Birmingham. Visitors to the show can find out more about ‘Living made easy for children’ (http://www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk/children/) at the DLF Information Point or during the daily seminars on the website in the Kidequip area.
