PGSS is a manual signing system which reflects normal patterns of English with reference to the main grammatical features of the language. Aims to improve the service people receive, whether they are already a pensioner or are planning for their retirement, no matter how far off it might be. Provides one-off grants to older people and people with disabilities or mental health issues. Financial assistance can be provided for electrical and gas appliances, household goods, telephone installation, car adaptations. Aims to help families of children and adults suffering from Perthes disease (a form of Osteochondritis), and associated conditions including Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia, Kholer's Disease, Osgood-Schlatter's Disease, Larsen-Johansson Syndrome, Panner's Disease, Schuermann's Disease and Sever's Disease. Helps and advises families of children suffering from Perthes' disease and associated conditions. Volunteers are 'at the end of the telephone line' for any worried or distressed parents, and will visit them if possible or put them in touch with a family living locally. Advice on practical and financial help available for a child suffering from Perthes' disease, or MED (Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia). PHAB England
Aims to integrate people with and without physical disabilities through 300 clubs in England. Activities incude social meetings, sports, outings and holidays. Some groups are specifically for younger people up to the age of 25. DLF Checked.
The Philadelphia Association was founded in 1965 and is a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). It is a registered charity. The Philadelphia Association is a charity concerned with the understanding and relief of mental suffering. The association runs a small number of therapeutic community households, also psychotherapy training courses and public lectures and conferences. Phoneability
Independent UK focal point for telecommunications and the needs of disabled and elderly people. The group acts as a catalyst in this area by organising conferences and seminars on telecommunications and disability. Picture This Partnership makes information easier to understand for people with learning disabilities. They do this by using plain English and supporting the text with pictures.They produce a free monthly newsletter which contains up-to-date disability related news stories, which can be downloaded from their website. Aim to assist around 2,000 children with disabilities mainly from the British Isles, in making a pilgrimage to Lourdes at Easter and to ensure adequate provision of voluntary medical and nursing helpers to accompany them. Theatre which is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, all year except September. The main auditorium is wheelchair accessible via a lift. The theatre is equipped for hearing aid users via an induction loop system. Signed performances are offered on request. Scripts are available on tape on request.
