An interactive and practical one day course for those working, or interested in, housing for older and disabled people. The course aims to extend participants’ knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of reading and using plans and to introduce them to the key accessible housing standards operating in the UK. Initial sessions include sketching and measuring, reading and drawing to scale, and working with plans, sections and elevations. These are followed by a study of current design guidance, regulations and codes of practice pertaining to wheelchair housing and by a series of exercises that allow participants to test the standards in practice.
