DLF launches new 'Retail Assessors for Community Equipment' course
29th May 2008
The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) has launched a new training course aimed at companies seeking to take advantage of the Transforming Community Equipment and Wheelchairs Services (TCEWS) Model.
The course ‘Retail Assessors for Community Equipment’ draws on the DLF’s many years experience of training healthcare professionals and has been piloted with suppliers and retailers to ensure it meets their needs.
The course aims to enable retailers to provide appropriate equipment solutions, with focus on using a Person Centred Approach. The course will also assist delegates with practical aspects of assessment in a retail environment.
The course is run by senior, highly experienced therapists at the DLF’s Equipment Centre which allows for a hands-on, practical approach, a key element of the course. The course will be accredited by June.
Sue Clements, Head of Training at the DLF, says “DLF has been at the forefront of providing Trusted Assessor Training for many years. In light of the growing importance of retailers in meeting the needs of an aging population, it is essential that staff are trained to assess based on a person’s individual needs”.
Feedback from delegates include, “All in, an efficient and enjoyable, well run course with knowledgeable tutors" and “Technically good and well presented by the senior staff members”.
