Karen Buck, MP for Regent's Park & Kensington North, officially launches the DLF's 'Telecare made easy'
2nd June 2008
DLF’s
new telecare website, ‘Telecare made easy’ (www.telecaremadeeasy.com)
was officially launched by Karen Buck MP at an event held
at the DLF’s Equipment Demonstration Centre in Westminster
on Wednesday 28th May.
The event was attended by key figures in telecare from all over the country. DLF’s Chief Executive, Nicole Penn-Symons, started proceedings by giving a brief introduction to the new website, which was developed in partnership with Tunstall. Karen Buck, MP for Regent’s Park & Kensington North, then gave a speech about the increasing importance of telecare in social and health care. Other speakers included
Dave McKenlay (Independent Living Strategy Project Manager for Office for Disability Issues, Department for Work and Pensions), Karen Bradshaw (Telecare Project Officer for Westminster City) and Guy Dewsbury (Telecare Coordinator for London Borough of Barnet).
Ali Rogan, Group Marketing Director of Tunstall, who sponsored the website, gave a presentation focussing on how telecare products can help service users and with the aid of case studies, showed how telecare works in the context of everyday life.
Finally, Warren Goodland, DLF Occupational Therapist, ended the day with a demonstration of ‘Telecare made easy’ itself. This allowed those attending to see the most useful features of the site, including product comparisons. Visitors also had a chance to network and view some of the latest telecare products at an exhibition of leading companies such as Tunstall, Possum, Just Checking, Chubb Community Care and MindMe.
Nicole Penn-Symons, Chief Executive of the DLF, says “We are delighted with ‘Telecare made easy’ and believe it will be an invaluable resource for both professionals and the general public”.
