6th June 2008

Cover of Good Website Guide 2008National charity the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF)’s website (www.dlf.org.uk) has been ranked Number One in The Top Ten Disability Help and Information websites in the Good Website Guide 2008.

The DLF’s website is described as an “excellent site”. It contains information about equipment that can help older and disabled people lead active and independent lives. The site features almost 50 factsheets on topics ranging from ‘Choosing equipment to get up and down the stairs’ to ‘Choosing a scooter or buggy’, plus links to hundreds of self help groups and useful organisations. Unique features of the site include DLF’s award-winning self assessment tool, AskSARA. AskSARA invites you to enter information about yourself and your environment and then, based on your answers, gives you a detailed report full of useful advice and product suggestions. Recently relaunched, it won the Independent Living Category at the National eWell-Being Awards 2008 and received a commendation at the ICT Hub Awards 2008 in the Most Innovative Use of ICT category.

Nicole Penn-Symons, Chief Executive of the DLF, says “We are delighted to have been ranked the Number One disability website by this respected publication. The public needs access to reliable information from a source it can trust. This year DLF plans to make more of our impartial equipment data freely available on the internet for public use, following the success of our existing websites for bathing (www.bathingmadeeasy.com) and telecare (www.telecaremadeeasy.com)”.
