Non-Verbal Communication in Manual Handling
Non-verbal communication is an
inherent capability that is often
poorly understood and therefore
underused. This course is designed
to enable people-handlers firstly to
understand the importance of
non-verbal cues (e.g. body position,
touch, vocal emphasis, eye contact,
personal space) and secondly to use
these principles in manual handling
situations. While it is aimed at all
people-handlers, it is anticipated
that this course will be of special
interest to those carers with
patients/service users with
restricted, absent or altered vocal
and comprehensive problems, e.g.
young children and babies, stroke/
head injury, mental illness.
