Families Need Fathers
Families Need Fathers is run almost entirely by volunteers and relies heavily on income from membership and donations. Without this income FNF could not survive. This website provides invaluable help to nearly 2,000 people every week. Without it, many separated parents would be deprived of one of the best resources of its kind on the Internet. -
Family Fund
The Family Fund helps low income families of disabled or seriously ill children under 16. They give grants related to the care of the child including holidays, leisure, laundry equipment, driving lessons and lots more. Their website carries more information. Champion an inclusive society where families with severely disabled or seriously ill children have choices and the opportunity to enjoy ordinary life. Every year, the Fund helps tens of thousands of families in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. If your income is £23,000 or less they may be able to help. -
Family Heart Association
Aims to provide information and support for anyone at high risk of premature coronary heart disease, especially families with familial hypercholesterolemia. Promotes the early detection and preventative counselling of families prone to premature coronary heart disease. -
Family Holiday Association
Charity that promotes mutual support for families in need. Seek to provide holidays for families with school age children in desperate need of a break. Provides grants for one week's holiday for the whole family. -
Family Records Centre
Hold indexes to the records of all births, deaths and marriages in England and Wales since 1837 and legal adoptions since 1927. Visitors can carry out searches of the last three to four generations. Certificates are available in Braille on request. Induction loops and textphones are available for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing. The centre is wheelchair accessible and has toilet facilities for disabled visitors. -
Family Rights Group
Advise families with children in public care, involved in child protection procedures or receiving family support services. Train and advise social workers, lawyers and other professionals about family and childcare law and good practice. Responds to central and local government proposals on family and childcare policy and practice. Helpline open Mon-Fri, 1.30-3.30pm. -

Prevent the breakdown of family and community life by providing services to disadvantaged communities families and children. Monitors the effects of public policy on families living in poverty. -

Assist families and individuals to overcome the effects of poverty in tangible ways, providing practical, emotional and financial support. Promote professional social work practice and training. -

Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens
Central organisation for city farms and community gardens. Details of local city farms and community gardens can be posted to enquirers (send an SAE) or from their website. -
Fellowship of Depressives Anonymous
Provides support and encouragement for depressives and their relatives. Promotes and supports self-help groups. Works alongside the medical and caring professions to try to meet the needs not covered by health professionals. There is an information line open to anyone at any time, including weekends: answered personally for four hours a day, messages left at other times, responded to as soon as possible. Publications include a newsletter, published six times a year, information sheet, tape list, booklist. Membership per annum is £10 (or what a person can afford.) Members receive a newsletter and can join penfriend/phonefriend schemes. -

Fish Insurance
Travel policy for disable people and their personal assistants/companions. No value limit on disability equipment, hire costs of temporary equipment if own is damaged, stolen or lost in transit. Medical expenses and repatriation cover including emergency visit from UK family member if personal assistant/companion is ill or injured, the policy provides cover to find a replacement or bring a family member to you. If pre-booked accomodation is unsuitable, a free legal helpline is provided to give advice; lawyers liase on behalf of insured and accomodation provider. Investigation for compensation. -
Fledglings
Organisation that offers a free search service to families looking for products for children with special needs. Provide a nationwide ordering service, and local support through coffee mornings and demonstrations. -
Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust
Provides one-off grants to named individuals towards items and equipment which are not readily available to them from other sources. Application form is on their website. -
For Dementia
Aims to address the needs of people with dementia and their carers both in the community and in residential settings, by providing one-to-one support, advice and counselling. Activities include help with obtaining professional assessment, support service, welfare benefits and relief care. -
Forestry Commission
Government department responsible for forestry, providing advice on access to forests. Facilities and camping discounts available to people with disabilities. -
Forum for Living of Young Disabled People
Aims to provide an opportunity for younger disabled people to explore independent lifestyles, with freedom of choice. Activities include having discussion about a choice of independent living with freedom. Publications include organisation flyers and CD Rom Personal Assistance Tools. -
Forum of Mobility Centres
The Forum of Mobility Centre is a network of 17 independent organisations covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, who offer professional, high quality information, advice and assessment to individuals who have a medical condition or are recovering from an accident or injury which may affect their ability to drive, access a motor vehicle. -
Foundation for the Advancement of Assistive Technology
Promotes collaboration between researchers and developers of assistive technology. Produce online database of research and development into assistive technology, organisations and services and events. -
Foundation for the Brain Injured Child
Cerebra works to ensure that up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge is available and applied for the prevention of brain damage and for proven treatments. In addition to the programme of research carried out at UK hospitals, universities and the Foundation's centre, they also co-ordinate the international parent network (PARNET) for support, information and research. Organise a range of training seminars, workshops and projects for parents, professionals and children themselves. -
Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths
Promote and sponsor research into the causes and prevention of sudden and unexpected deaths (cot deaths/sudden infant death syndrome). Raises funds for research into cot deaths and their prevention. Supports families who have experienced a cot death. Provide infant care advice to parents. Helpline open Mon-Fri 9am-11pm, Sat-Sun 6pm-11pm. -

Took over from Care and Repair (England), the role of co-ordinating home improvement agencies in England. They deal with problems facing elderly, disabled and low income householders in private sector housing who are trying to improve, repair or adapt their homes. -
Four All: Channel 4's Disability Database
Aims to increase representation of disabled people in TV. Programme makers can search database for disabled people to appear on screen or work in programme production. Site also includes guidelines for programme makers and advice for disabled people who want to work in TV. -
Friendly Guides
How To Communications produce the Friendly Guides range. These bright, clear guides are designed to help those with learning disabilities to make informed decisions, carry out day-to-day tasks, live in their own homes and be valued in the workplace. The range is growing all the time. -

Offer London children in need aged five to 12 years and their families the highest quality holiday experience, in the safest possible environment. -
Funderfinder
Makes computer software designed to improve the effectiveness of charities. Produces four programs: GIN (groups in need), helps groups identify trusts and foundations that might fund their work. PIN (people in need), identifies the trusts and foundations that might make a grant to an individual. Apply Yourselves, a free program, downloadable from website, helps organisations write a funding application. Budget Yourselves, also free, helps organisations develop a budget.
