It is great sadness that DLF reports that our Vice-President and longstanding supporter, Lord Alf Morris of Manchester has died at the age of 84.
Lord Morris was a pioneer for the rights of disabled people in the UK and it was his private member’s bill that led to the first disability rights legislation, 1970's Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act.
The Act set down specific provisions to improve access and support for people with disabilities. It was a watershed moment for disabled people in the UK.
