Disabled Living Foundation’s volunteer programme partners with UK Care Guide
We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with UK Care Guide to help spread the word about our vital services even further. The UK Care Guide offers support and guidance to thousands of people on a range of care and elderly issues. They recently promoted our volunteer programme and we hope this will lead to many more volunteers joining our ever-growing team.
Disabled Living Foundation’s volunteer programme makes an impact
Our knowledgeable volunteers visit local community groups, charities and other organisations to talk to people about DLF's online services and how daily living aids can dramatically help to improve the lives of those living independently.
The volunteer programme now has 25 active volunteers who are busy travelling around London. During the last six months we have spoken to over 500 people.
Here's a brief overview of a typical talk:
- What DLF does and it's aims
- Demonstrations on how to use AskSARA, DLF's interactive online guided advice tool and Living Made Easy, DLF's flagship website which lists over 11,000 products and provides impartial, free and independent advice on daily living equipment
- An interactive equipment demo – volunteers bring along examples of daily living aids and demonstrate to the group how they work.
Recently we visited the Alzhiemer's Society dementia hub in Mitcham were we spoke to carers about our online websites and helpline. They were amazed at the breadth of information and products available and how daily living aids would not only help those they were looking after, but could also relieve them from some of the stresses of caring for an individual. One of the carers, who looks after her husband with dementia and Parkinson’s said: 'This talk has completely opened my eyes.'

Notes to editors
Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) is a national charity that provides expert and impartial advice on independent living, helping people live independently at home for longer. DLF’s website, Living Made Easy, is used predominately by disabled and older people, or their relatives and friends, who are looking for equipment to make everyday tasks easier.
