Volunteer with us

We have launched an exciting new volunteer role at DLF! We’re looking for out-going, enthusiastic people who are happy to give talks to groups in their local communities about the living aids available that could transform their lives.

With a huge range of equipment available, sometimes it can be confusing to know where to start.

  • How do you know what is available?
  • Where do you go to buy equipment?
  • How do you know if a supplier is reputable?

Our Independent Living Volunteers help answer these questions through informal, relaxed talks at local community venues, which are free for people to attend.

If you could spare a few hours per month and are happy presenting to small and medium sized groups, then we want to hear from you.

What would I be doing?

Deliver informative talks about daily living aids to community groups. We find the audiences for you – we just need your enthusiasm and great communication skills to deliver the talks. Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to ‘sell’ anything, the purpose is to provide information only.

Where would I volunteer?

The talks are delivered at partner organisations across London. So you can volunteer within your local community, or travel a bit further afield if you prefer. We cover your travel expenses, so you aren’t out of pocket.

How much time do I need to commit?

This is really flexible – you can do just one or two talks per month, or as many as you like! Each talk takes around one to two hours.

Sounds great – what’s next?

To apply or if you’d like to have a chat about the role, contact Kayann Porter on 07855 005709 or email kayann.porter@dlf.org.uk

We’ll provide a one day Induction session so you know exactly what you need to do when you present your first talk and we also offer on-going support and development opportunities.
