DLF named as finalists in the BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards 2013
Date: 6th September 2013
The BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. DLF's assistive technology web app and QR combo has made the list of finalists under the category of Project Excellence (Best not for profit IT project).
The project demonstrates an innovative and integrated approach to providing impartial and comprehensive information on assistive technology via mobile platforms. The method of implementation exceeded the initial aims and mainstreamed the technological reach while accommodating the practical necessities such as security.
The project's aim is to provide a foundation for DLF to further expand its mobile offerings and expand the reach of its services while demonstrating technological innovation and vision.
The project enables end users and carers to view advice optimised for either desktop or mobile platforms, health care professionals to access details of assistive technology products while out on community visits, provides rapid access to up-to-date information in equipment demonstration centres using QR coded product labels and two web apps: AskSARA and DLF Data.
