Join us as an Independent Living Volunteer
- Do you want to make a difference?
- Do you enjoy presenting/training?
- Is empowering people important to you?
Then we want to hear from you.
Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) is a national charity that provides expert, impartial advice and training on equipment for independent living.
As an Independent Living Volunteer you will be placed at the heart of your community. Supported by the Independent Living Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will give talks to local groups, demonstrating the benefits of assistive technology in order to help older and disabled people, their carers or families find suitable products to support independent living.
This opportunity will suit someone who has a background in Social Care, an interest in physical/sensory disability or who has had involvement within a community setting.
We are looking for someone who:
- has excellent communication skills
- is enthusiastic about making a difference
- is responsible and trustworthy
- has a professional manner and the confidence to work independently.
We require volunteers to commit to approximately four hours per month. Most of the sessions are held during the morning or afternoon, although we may have opportunities for evenings and weekends. There is flexibility regarding when you volunteer – e.g. weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Full training and support will be provided. Our aim is for each volunteer to become part of the team and you will receive regular support and updates from the Independent Living Volunteer Coordinator.
Reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
Volunteers need to be aged over 18.
