Volunteer with us
We need you!
We have launched an exciting new volunteer role at DLF.
We’re looking for out-going, enthusiastic people who are happy to give talks to groups in their local communities about the living aids available that could transform their lives.
Volunteer as a DLF volunteer and help us towards transforming 1 million lives per year for a more inclusive world.
With a huge range of equipment available, sometimes it can be confusing to know where to start.
- How do you know what is available?
- Where do you go to buy equipment?
- How do you know if a supplier is reputable?
Our Independent Living Volunteers help answer these questions through informal, relaxed talks at local community venues, which are free for people to attend.
If you could spare a few hours per month and are happy presenting to small and medium sized groups, then we want to hear from you.
What would I be doing?
Deliver informative talks about daily living aids to community groups. We find the audiences for you – we just need your enthusiasm and great communication skills to deliver the talks. Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to ‘sell’ anything, the purpose is to provide information only.
Where would I volunteer?
The talks are delivered at partner organisations across London. So you can volunteer within your local community, or travel a bit further afield if you prefer. We cover your travel expenses, so you aren’t out of pocket.
How much time do I need to commit?
This is really flexible – you can do just one or two talks per month, or as many as you like! Each talk takes around one to two hours.
Sounds great – what’s next?
We’ll provide a one day Induction session so you know exactly what you need to do when you present your first talk and we also offer on-going support and development opportunities.
Talks - volunteers available now
We have a group of knowledgeable volunteer speakers available to give talks to groups of all sizes.
Our volunteers are visiting local community groups giving free talks about what DLF does and how we can help individuals live more independently - we are available to visit disabled charities, housing associations, care homes and more.
We're very flexible with times: talks usually last around an hour - depending on how many questions there are! Talks can also be interactive, which works really well with smaller groups.
We have an army of trained volunteers ready to come out now - so if this would be of help to you please get in contact. Call Ellie on 07779 453187 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
